Director
Appointed 19/08/2023 - current
Brenda joined the Club in 2015, attracted by the opportunity to have wide-ranging discussions about a variety of issues with interesting people in a cosy and welcoming space. The Club's history of social justice and advocacy clinched the deal.
Before becoming a director, Brenda has contributed to Club life through co-championing First Fridays @ Five throughout its first year, and by hosting a number of speakers for Justice & Democracy and the Science Series on subjects from the Uluru Statement and the #MeToo movement to frogs and climate science. She was a member of the Club’s Membership Committee from 2020 to 2022.
Brenda has been a barrister since 2008. She completed undergraduate studies in law and science at UNSW Sydney (winning the University Medal in Chemistry) and graduate degrees in law at Oxford. Brenda brings to the board her legal expertise and understanding of governance, together with experience in policy work around equality, diversity and inclusion.
