The Women’s Club is pleased to present Sydney based Piano Quartet, Ensemble Twelve88 for the October Women in Music concert.
Ensemble Twelve88 is a dynamic all-women piano quartet based in Sydney, dedicated to bringing classical music to diverse audiences. With performances at venues like Tom Mann Theatre, Mosman Art Gallery, and aged care homes, they champion music’s universal power for all regardless of background, gender, or age. In this special performance, they’ll shine a spotlight on the often-overlooked legacy of female composers, celebrating their vital but underrecognized contributions to classical music. All members are highly trained, holding Master's degrees in performance and balancing careers as soloists and teachers.

Performers
Soowon Seo is Principal pianist of MUS Choir and leader of Sydney based chamber group, Ensemble Twelve88. Soowon is South Korea born concert pianist, piano teacher and accompanist with a passion for sharing the joy of music with her audience. Soowon has performed on international stages including tours with Stargate music production USA, Chicago Children's Choir across America, chamber music festivals in Germany and Seoul Spring Festival in South Korea - including solo performances at the Art for Life Hall and Mozart Hall in Seoul - and more recently chamber performances, solo concert on cruise ship and solo concert at the Art Gallery of NSW. Soowon is a Masters double-degree graduate of Northwestern University, Chicago USA, in performance & pedagogy, under the guidance of Dr James Giles and Dr Marcia Bosits. Soowon earned her Bachelors degree in piano performance from Yonsei University, South Korea. She is the alumni of Yewon Arts Middle school and Seoul Arts High School, Korea, where she specialized in piano.
Harmonnia Junus is Australian born violinist who has has performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia. Most recently, she appeared with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra at the Adelaide Festival Centre. She was also a soloist with the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra on their Australian Debut Tour “The Sound of Taiwan” performing at the Sydney Opera House and Brisbane City Hall. Ms. Junus has performed in venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, the National Opera Center, Symphony Space, the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. Ms. Junus is the co-founder and Artistic Director of New York based performance collective Artists By Any Other Name - an interdisciplinary ensemble centred around classical music and contemporary dance. The group has been an incubator for a variety of projects that experiment and expand on traditional conventions of the form Ms. Junus is the Artistic Director of Young Artist Exchange, a festival where students and teachers from Australia, China and the United States connect through music and the arts Harmonnia Junus earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from New York's Mannes College the New School for Music under the tutelage of Sally Thomas. Other notable teachers include Dr. Goetz Richter, Daniel Phillips, Stephanie Chase and Professor Shi-Xiang Zhang. Ms. Junus performs on a Giovanni Grancino violin made in Milan, 1719.
Josephine Lumanau was born in Indonesia. Josephine is an accomplished teacher and freelance violist. She completed her Master of Music studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and Bachelor of Music atAIM. During her studies, she took part in AYO and SYO program and played under Simone Young, Christopher Hogwood, Max Mcbride, Fabian Russell and many more. She is a regular member of Willoughby Symphony Orchestra and Canberra Symphony Orchestra and has played in numerous venues across Australia and Italy where her string quartet got a scholarship to attend Estivo: European chamber music festival in 2014. Teaching hasalso been a major part of her career. She enjoys sharing her passion in music and nurturing the next generation of musicians. Josephine teaches viola and violin at Sydney Conservatorium of Music play at the con program, Sydney Conservatorium high school and Meriden School.
Nazli E. Sendurgut, cellist completed her Bachelor and Master of Music Studies (performance) degree in 2015 at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Nazli believes that music is a powerful tool to help others and raise awareness for important causes. For this reason, she has done various projects that have involved performance outside of traditional concert halls, such as in schools, a cancer clinic, regional Australia, a detention centre and the most poverty-stricken part of Colombia. Nazli also took part in an orchestral event to raise funds for the 2019-20 Australian bushfires. From the churches of New Zealand to the slums of Bogotá Colombia, Nazli has performed in amazing places like the Sydney Opera House and other beautiful venues across Australia. She has also performed in the Wiener Kammeroper in Vienna as well as concert halls in the Czech Republic and Italy where she took part in lessons and masterclasses.
Nazli works as a freelance cellist and plays on a modern Italian Stefano Marzi cello. She performs regularly with Ensemble Twelve88 and Willoughby Symphony. Her schedule also includes teaching cello, playing in orchestras across Sydney, performing on cruise ships, and performing solo and chamber music at functions and events.
