Nardi Simpson’s powerful novel Song of the Crocodile explores the experiences of a First Nations community living on the outskirts of a rural town. Kath Kenny’s Staging a Revolution draws on research and testimony to reclaim the contributions of women to Australian theatre in the 1970s. Join Nardi and Kath as they talk with Augusta Supple.

Participants
Kath Kenny is an essayist, arts reviewer and researcher. Her writing has appeared in publications such as the Sydney Morning Herald, Meanjin, The Monthly and The Saturday Paper, and in anthologies such as #MeToo: Stories from the Australian Movement. Her book Staging a Revolution draws on interviews and research for her award-winning PhD about the Australian women’s liberation movement.
Nardi Simpson is a Yuwaalaraay writer, composer, playwright, and educator, as well as a musician and performer in the Stiff Gins. Song of the Crocodile was the 2018 winner of a black&write! writing fellowship and became Nardi’s masterful debut novel. It is highly awarded – longlisted for the Miles Franklin award and shortlisted for major state and national awards.
Augusta Supple is a Sydney-based creative producer and theatre director specializing in new work and multi-playwright productions. She has commissioned and produced more than 150 of Australia’s leading and emerging playwrights, pioneering collaborative play generators, new work festivals and creative developments. She is currently a Board Member of The Women’s Club, Sydney.
